The Legal
Aid Society strongly encourages attorneys to contribute
their time in handling individual cases or participating in projects
as their pro bono work. However, Legal Aid welcomes financial
contributions too. The monies donated by bar members are a substantial
source of revenue for the program and remains one of the three largest
sources of revenue, amounting to almost $400,000 annually.
The annual
minimum contribution required from members of the Orange County Bar
Association who are not able to donate time and skills is $350. The
contribution is solicited for a January to December calendar year. The
Florida Bar sets as a goal for members the annual contribution of at
least 20 hours or $350 to an organized pro bono program. Additional
financial donations above the minimum requirements are very much appreciated.
Attorneys
who donate time and skills in casework and projects may also provide
greater help by making a tax deductible financial donation to the Legal
Aid Society. Funding is used to support the many important legal programs
and projects offered in our community by the Legal Aid Society.
