Volunteer Advocates for Children Fact Sheet
Volunteer Application

GAL Assistant

  • Provide support to our Guardian ad Litem Attorneys by researching cases, conducting interviews with clients and collecting data
  • Attend court hearings when necessary
  • Must be available to work an occasional weekday

Project Assistant

  • Provide support to our Staff Attorneys, each focusing on a specific area of concern for the children in the system
    • Education concerns: Focuses on ensuring the continuity and
      quality of education the children receive while dependent on the State.
    • Health concerns: Focuses on ensuring the continuity of all
      necessary healthcare (physical, emotional and behavioral) for the children while dependent on the State.
    • Permanency concerns: Focuses on obtaining permanent
      placement for the child, in a place that serves the child’s best interest, within one year of that child being removed from the home.
  • Attend Court hearings when necessary.
  • Be available to conduct interviews or to do research and collect data when necessary.
  • Must be available to work an occasional weekday.

Home Visitor

  • Volunteers called upon as necessary to conduct one-time evaluations of homes in order to determine whether they are suitable placements for children
