The highest
pro bono honor awarded by Legal Aid Society of the Orange County
Bar
Association, Inc., is the Judge J. C. ‘Jake’ Stone
Distinguished Service Award. This award is presented to the attorney
who has demonstrated a commitment to pro bono throughout his or her
career. To be considered the attorney must have received an individual
award
from Legal Aid. There have been 19 prior recipients of this award.
The 2006
winner is Susan V. Stucker. Susan is Senior Counsel with Sprint
Nextel Corporation. She practices in the area
of employment and labor law.
Susan
graduated from Florida State University with a B.A. and a J.D. with
high honors in 1985.
She was
admitted
to
The Florida Bar in 1985.
Susan
has been a Guardian ad Litem for 20 years, advocating for children
in dependency cases. She has been appointed for over 70 children
and donated over 3700 hours. For her outstanding pro bono service,
she received the New Lawyer Award
of
Excellence
in
1990
and an Individual
Award
in 1999.
