Susan V. Stucker Recieves Legal Aid's Highest Pro Bono Award

Susan V. Stucker, Senior Counsel with Sprint Nextel Corporation eceived the Judge J.C. 'Jake' Stone Distinguished Service Award from LAS Board member Jack Lord and LAS President Esther Whitehead.

Susan has been a Guardian ad Litem and a strong and compassionate advocate in the local community for twenty years. She is a past recipient of Legal Aid's New Lawyer Award and an Individual Award of Merit. Read more about Susan's pro bono work.

 

LEGAL AID HONORS PRO BONO ATTORNEYS
AT AUGUST BAR LUNCHEON

At the August bar luncheon, Legal Aid recognized the outstanding contributions of attorneys during the past year. Meenakshi A. Hirani, President-Elect of the Board of Trustees presented awards to the outstanding New Lawyers, Government Attorney, Law Firms, Individual Attorneys and the Judge J. C. Jake Stone Distinguished Service Award.

A Law Firm Award of Merit was presented to Foley & Lardner LLP. Foley & Lardner is a consistent leader in providing pro bono services to our community. Attorneys at the firm handle guardian ad litem cases, family law, housing and consumer cases, as well as participate in projects. The firm recently adopted a firm wide policy to support and encourage pro bono and named Ed Baxa, managing partner of the Orlando office as the national chair.

Receiving the New Lawyer Awards were Barbara M. Cowherd and Marwa M. Zeini.

The Government Attorney Award was presented to Peter W. Kenny, a staff attorney with the Federal Public Defenders Office.
